“Then I turned to the Lord God and prayed and asked him for
help.
To show my sadness, I fasted, put on rough cloth, and sat in ashes.
I
prayed to the Lord my God and told
him about all of our sins...
Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear us and do something!
For
your sake, don't wait, because your city
and your people are called by your
name." ~ Daniel 9:3-4, 19 ncv
“So long
as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to
tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves
in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles
upon sleeping men.” ~ Voltaire [François-Marie Arouet de Voltaire] (1694-1778)

EXERCISE YOUR FREEDOM AND...
EXERCISE YOUR FREEDOM AND...
My intention was to begin this series last Thursday to
encourage you to join me on a 40-day prayer and possible fast. The election of
our nation (USA) is November 6—now 36 days away.
I do not take lightly the opportunity and privilege to vote
for those who will represent me from the local to national decisions. So, my
posts through to November 6 will be reminders and encouragers to vote, but not to endorse any position or preference.
- Ask yourself: “What do I want from my elected officials?”
- Be certain you are properly registered to vote (city, county, district, state)
- Check the location for casting your vote
- Do your homework on the issues and the candidates—don’t simply vote party lines, ,watch the debates with an open mind to hear what they say and please, be versatile in your resources
- Exercise your freedom to VOTE—the freedom made possible by those who fought, shed blood, gave up their fortunes, and even died to give us this privilege.
(To my readers from other nations, I pray that you will pray
for my fellow citizens to be wise in casting votes for our governing
representation—from the school board to the highest office of President of the
United States. Pray that we will exercise our privilege to cast those votes.)
Will you commit to VOTE? Will you join me in prayer? Are you
will to fast—for a day, 3 days, a week, or until the final count?
(fasting does not necessarily mean going without all food,
but can also mean sacrificing rich foods—for better explanation see the
Ultimate Daniel Fast by Kristen Feola)
